🔥 Lukewarm: The Most Dangerous Temperature in Christianity

“I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.”

Revelation 3:15–16 (KJV)

📍 A Church Comfortable with the World

We are living in the Laodicean age—an age where Christians claim the name of Christ while walking in comfort, convenience, and compromise. The most terrifying state isn’t rebellion, but apathy. Not the fire of persecution, but the dull coals of comfort.

Christ wasn’t speaking to atheists. He was speaking to His church.

This isn’t about extremism. It’s about wholeheartedness. It’s about being fully surrendered or not surrendered at all.

📖 What Is Lukewarmness?

  • Saying “I believe” but living like the world.
  • Reading Scripture occasionally but not being transformed by it.
  • Claiming Christ as Savior but not as Lord.
  • Avoiding open sin but tolerating private compromise.

🧭 God’s Cure for Lukewarm Faith (Sola Scriptura)

The solution is not feelings, revival meetings, or charismatic hype. The cure is God’s Word and a return to obedience. Here’s how Scripture commands us to come out of lukewarmness:

1. Return to Your First Love

“Thou hast left thy first love.” – Revelation 2:4

2. Live by the Word

“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” – Matthew 4:4

3. Walk in the Spirit

“Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” – Galatians 5:16

4. Keep the Commandments Out of Love

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” – John 14:15
“He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar…” – 1 John 2:4

5. Repent and Be Zealous

“Be zealous therefore, and repent.” – Revelation 3:19

6. Separate from the World

“Be not conformed to this world…” – Romans 12:2
“Come out from among them, and be ye separate…” – 2 Corinthians 6:17

7. Abide in Christ

“Abide in me… for without me ye can do nothing.” – John 15:4–5

8. Let God Work in You

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do…” – Philippians 2:13
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…” – Isaiah 40:31

🎯 The Standard Hasn’t Changed

Being lukewarm is the natural result of a faith not fed by the Word. But it doesn’t have to stay that way. Christ stands at the door knocking—not begging, but warning.

“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten…” – Revelation 3:19
“He that hath an ear, let him hear…” – Revelation 3:22

💡 Final Thought

Jesus is coming back—not for a crowd, but for a bride. Not for the comfortable, but the committed. Babylon is full of those who profess godliness but deny its power (2 Timothy 3:5).

🔥 Let us not be found lukewarm.
